Peter Sellars' productions of three Mozart operas, set in contemporary America, are probably the most radical and iconoclastic opera stagings of the past twenty years. Mr. Sellars is widely regarded as the most exciting director at work on the international theatre and opera scene today. His past successes include the landmark opera Nixon in China and the acclaimed Doctor Atomic. This special program provides a revealing look at Sellars' controversial productions of Mozart's Don Giovanni, The Marriage of Figaro and Cosi fan tutte. Sellars has stunned the music world with his unconventional approach to these musical masterpieces by setting them in the South Bronx, Trump Tower and a Long Island diner, respectively.
